First Baptist, Hammond, IN 1-2 Loss (2OT)
This game pitted two teams of equal strength against each other in the semifinals of the tournament. Hammond scored first in the first half on a rebound shot. In the second half, UCS tied the game at 1 when Joe Hellenbrand put a corner kick on John Kutz's forehead who headed the ball over the goalie's outstretched hands. The game went through the first overtime still tied at 1. Then with about 2 minutes left in the second overtime, a Hammond player got behind the UCS defense (obviously offsides by 5 yards) and scored when the pass came to him. It was the best shot Hammond had all day, except that the player was off sides, but the goal was allowed to stand giving UCS their first loss of the season. Both teams had 9 shots on goal.
